Yes, that is it folks!
Another week of gallivanting and fun written off, time really is flying by! We started the week off strongly back at dear old KF where Coach Dan supervised yet another tough intervals session, but at the same time our exec committee donned their dancing shoes for President’s ceilidh đŸ˜® Sadly a little short on the free drinks, but a perfect occasion for Adam to chat up Sean from the SU in hope of some minibus tests; but alas his lines weren’t quite good enough… Better luck next time!
Then onto the event of the week, Beerienteering! With a huge turn out from five sports clubs, the orienteers were out to test the navigational skills of their friends. After gathering en masse in Teviot, our members ventured around Newington on their many escapades, before gathering at DVC for a beer mile. Fast and furious racing ensued (plus a healthy dose of cheating it seemed…) before the race shoes were exchanged for the dance shoes and a post-run sauna was required in Hive.
Thursday saw the return of Coach Dan’s training (and an outbreak of headaches around town), with some challenging navigation around the (already familiar) streets of Newington, and EUOC were back on the football pitch on Friday evening (watch out AROS!!)
And breathe for the weekend, no orienteering?? There were the usual long runs in the surrounding hills, but the super committed always find a way to orienteer… Down by Gatwick, some of our members represented their home clubs at the CompassSport Cup Final. A tight fought battle on course one saw Euan edge out James for victory, as well as the golden boot, but FVO bit back to claim the Cup victory and bring it home to Scotland. For the small clubs trophy, INT put on an excellent show to come in 2nd, helped by a silver and bronze respectively for Fiona and Thomas!
That’s all for week 4! If you have any questions, please feel free to pop them in the general chat, or if you are struggling at all, please feel free to reach out to me or our wellbeing officer Wozzle for some advice or just a chat. As per usual, if you also fancy some company for your run, ping a message on the general chat and there will be someone with similar plans.
Catch you later!
Izzy
