Liberton – a suburb in the south of Edinburgh – boasts a warren of small alleyways and winding steps. An area once a home to Arthur Conan-Doyle, you’ll have to be a real detective to decipher these devious courses. Furthermore, the area has been used for GB senior squad training in the past. See below for a map excerpt.

Additional Info:

*New for 2022* To add another layer of spice to our brilliant areas, we will be using artificial barriers. These are great at creating new route choice legs and will make even the most seasoned athletes scratch their heads. The barriers will not be marked on the ground and thus it is up to you to make sure you abide by them. See below for an example (not in Edinburgh).

As usual, there will be no SI boxes at controls. You only need to punch at the start and finish.

The terrain this week means road shoes would be sufficient.

It goes without saying that a headtorch is required, and don’t forget your dibber!

EUOC have some spare compasses, dibbers and a few headtorches which you can borrow if needed – just let us know.

Liberton is a densely populated residential area and there are likely to be numerous people about. As such, please be respectful of members of the public.

The courses have been planned to avoid infringement with the WOC 2024 Embargo. You can find out exactly where the embargo is here.
