EUOC are delighted to announce the recruitment of Mark Nixon as our new Performance Coach. Mark will be providing individualised coaching for a group of athletes from the club, starting in March 2025. Mark was chosen after a highly competitive recruitment process, and brings a wealth of experience to the role.

He was previously a performance athlete himself at the University of Edinburgh and in the British Squad system, running in multiple JWOCs and WOCs. He also has coaching experience spanning both orienteering and endurance running: previously the Lead Technical Coach for the British Orienteering Talent programme, National Endurance Manager at Scottish Athletics and Head of both Performance Orienteering and Endurance Running at the University of Edinburgh.
We are grateful to the Orienteering Foundation for their support in making this project possible. We hope the new coaching programme will provide more opportunities for aspiring athletes within the club, supporting them to reach their goals and improve their performances. The coaching will be open to all, regardless of whether they have been selected for the University Sport Performance Programme or national squads. At this stage, participants will pay a monthly athlete contribution subsidised by the funding from the Orienteering Foundation.
