Legend of the Week #4 – Emma Crawford

Name: Emma Crawford
Course: 2nd year astrophysics
Where are you from: Cockermouth, Cumbria
When/how did you start orienteering: I started at primary school and I was pretty bad, but I stuck at it

Pre-race hype song: Has to be Ready to Run by One Direction, or Stacy’s Mum because Issy and I ran round a course singing that together.

Go to uni meal: Chicken nuggets and curly fries, just a huge fan of the air fryer

Most memorable race: At the JHI’s where I made 25-minute mistake whoops

Best orienteering achievement: Top 20 at JEC sprint and 3rd at BUCS relay with Issy and Daisy

Dream sponsor: Shoutout to Kong, but New Balance factory shop

Coolest place you’ve run: I did a race in San Francisco which had a view of the golden gate bridge which was pretty cool. Also, Central Park

Aims for the year: Have good races and not get buried in uni work

Fave things about EUOC: The community is lovely and a great motivation to train, also a big fan of FWTN.

thumb/baseplate compass: thumb

Fave EUOC social: Anything with a ceilidh so probably the AROS ball, which I am very sad to be missing this year 🙁

Sprint or forest: Do better in sprint but prefer forest, especially big open WCOC fell

Go to karaoke song: TSwift or One Direction although still yet to debut at Tron (watch this space….)

Biggest rivals: Daisy and Daisy

Idol: Alice Leake. She was so consistent with her results in sprint at WOC and then a bronze medal! So impressive, especially with a kid.
