Course: 2nd year Physics
Where are you from: originally from Leicester, but moved to the Lakes when I was 14
When/how did you start orienteering: my dad was my PE teacher and took school to British Schools where I won my first ever orienteering course in year 5!
Best achievement in orienteering: 25th at JWOC middle, and making the senior forest world cup team
Favourite area: mandatory Culbin answer, honourable mention to Svendubre in Lithuania – nicest forest I’ve ever ran in
Most memorable moment in orienteering: coming back as 2nd overall at JK 23 and realising I was getting onto JWOC
Biggest rival: Euan (flat rivalry!!) especially at sprint where I can actually beat him
Biggest idol: my grandma – she’s the nicest person I know
What is your hot drink of choice for the interview: hot chocolate and a cinnamon roll with whipped cream
Your most listened to song at the moment: Happiness by 1975 or Give Life Back to Music by Daft Punk
Go to sweet treat: cinnamon swirl
Favourite artist at the moment: Billie Marten
Favourite Edinburgh Bus Number: The 3 because it goes nearly all the way to uni and I like the yellow on the bus app
Pre-race ritual: don’t really have any, maybe a jog, and whatever drills other good runners around me are doing…
Most recent google search: royal mail tracking – new shoes were coming in the post! (and some not so nice sore throat symptoms we will spare you from reading)
What would you eat if you had one meal for the rest of your life: enchiladas, I just really like them and I don’t have them enough
Sprint/forest: Forest
What is your worst orienteering experience: Tiomila leg 7 in 2018 where I made a 25 min mistake but came back and found out Sunley made 40 mins of mistakes so it did make me feel better
If you had a superpower what would it be: being perfectly on time without having to try (he’s getting there already – he beat me to this interview…)
