Edinburgh Big Weekend 2025

We are delighted to announce that we have been able to reschedule this evening’s Fight with the Night to tomorrow afternoon. We are grateful to the University of Edinburgh and all the EUOC volunteers for helping us put this together.

We can also confirm that tomorrow’s City Race and Sunday’s Classic / Sprint are still going ahead as planned. For competitors travelling up tomorrow morning, if you are unable to make your original start time, you will be allowed to start at a later time.
Whilst we are confident all races will go ahead, it is possible that we may have permission withdrawn at short notice, should this be the case we will aim to notify competitors at least one hour before first starts.

The Met Office has recently announced a Red Weather Warning for wind that covers the South of Scotland, including Edinburgh, from 10am to 5pm on Friday. Because of this we unfortunately have to cancel Friday evening’s Fight with the Night. Please note that the events on Saturday and Sunday are still going ahead at this time. We are monitoring the situation.
In line with Met Office guidelines, it is strongly advised that competitors should not travel to Edinburgh on Friday.
We are looking at the possibility of rescheduling Fight with the Night to Saturday evening; however, this is dependent on permissions and the availability of volunteers.

Edinburgh University Orienteering Club invites you to its annual festival of orienteering in the heart of Scotland’s capital. The Edinburgh Big Weekend is Edinburgh’s premier orienteering competition!
Held at the end of January (24th-26th), interesting terrain, great courses, and lively social events help attract over 600 participants every year. The 2025 event will be no different.
Following the conclusion of WOC 2024, The Edinburgh Big Weekend will return to its roots with a Friday evening Fight With The Night around Edinburgh University’s Kings Buildings.
On Saturday we have the long-awaited Edinburgh City Race Urban around the centre of the Scottish capital with the option of an Elite Sprint.
Sunday will entail the Arthurs Seat Classic with challenging courses and picturesque views with another Elite Sprint in the unique housing estate of Dumbiedykes which was the host of the quarter-finals of WOC 2024 Knock-Out Sprint.
We are grateful to Kong Running for partnering with the event for the fourth year running.
