Courses
Courses – courtesy of Lizzie Stansfield – are as follows:

*Category 2 teams will receive one normal course and one short course for both the forest and sprint legs. Category 2 teams will decide amongst themselves who does the shorter courses: One person can take both shorter options or team members can do one each. And therefore there is no prescribed order of when the short courses are to be completed (i.e. whoever does the first leg in the mass start can either do the short forest course or the normal forest course).
All courses are suitable for everyone.
No loose control descriptions will be provided.
Timings
- Mass start shortly after 19:00
- Courses close at 20:15
Additional Information
It goes without saying that a headtorch is required, shoes with good grip are recommended, and don’t forget your dibber.
EUOC have some spare dibbers, compasses & headtorches that you can borrow, just send us an email.
As always there will be barriers on the sprint leg.
Twist – 2×2 Mixed-Terrain Relay
Explanation
Everyone not on the novice this week will be taking part in a 2×2 mixed-terrain relay!
Format:
- You will each be allocated a teammate (see below).
- Choose amongst yourselves who will be teammate A and who will be teammate B.
- All teammate As will be in a mass start and run their forest leg.
- When teammate A returns, they will handover to teammate B to run their sprint leg.
- When teammate B returns, they will hand back over to teammate A to run their sprint leg.
- Lastly, teammate A hands over to teammate B again for them to run their forest leg.
- Summary: (A-Forest, B-Sprint, A-Sprint, B-Forest).
- The team whose teammate B is first to get to the finish after their forest leg wins.
- Pro tip: Swap shoes whilst your partner runs.
Team Allocation:
- There will be two categories of teams category 1 and category 2.
- Category 1 teams will be comprised of all runners in the age classes: M/W18, M/W20, M/W21, M/W35
- Category 2 teams will be comprised of all runners is the age classes: M/W10, M/W12, M/W14, M/W16, M/W40, M/W45, M/W50, M/W55, M/W60, M/W65, M/W70, M/W75, M/W80
- Teams for each category will be made by placing all runners in ranking order and pairing the highest ranked and lowest ranked runners together, then the second highest with the second to lowest and so on and so forth.
- Juniors without ranking points will be given ranking points of zero to allocate teams.
- You will be informed what team you are in on the night, a few minutes before the start.
Prizes:
There will be a prize for each teammate from the winning teams from each of the two categories!
