Fight With The Night

Fight With The Night (FWTN) is a fortnightly orienteering series hosted by EUOC members in and around Edinburgh from October to March. There are 10 events with 5 each semester, with a mix of urban and forest orienteering.

25/26 -Year of the Twists

Fight With The Night is back, and more devious than ever! 😈

This year, the gloves are off as we step back into the ring for 10 rounds of quality night orienteering, with each week bringing its own little twist to keep you on your toes.

Make sure you read the “Twist” section of the Final Details thoroughly to see what’s in store for you each week. And please ask me as many clarifying questions as you wish on the night.

Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee,
Dan 💪

Rounds

Oxgangs – 18th Sep23rd Jan – Kings Buildings
Braids – 2nd Oct5th Feb – TBC
Whinny Hill – 16th Oct26th Feb – Pentlands
Corstorphine – 13th Nov12th Mar – Dumbiedykes
TBC – 27th Nov26th Mar – Craigmillar

Each event will have 3 top quality courses: Long, Short & Novice. The novice is the ideal course for newcomers to orienteering.
Starts are from 18:15-19:00. The long course also has an optional mass start at 19:00, with a fair gaffling format for some high-quality head-to-head racing experience.

Some of the races this year will also use artificial barriers. These are great at creating new routechoice legs and will make even the most seasoned athletes scratch their head.
These barriers will not be marked on the ground and a trust-based system will be employed.

Please feel free to join even if you’re not competitive, it is unlikely all runners joining in will be racing anyway!
There is a points system, counting your best 5 results from the 10 events, and those at the top of the table at the end of the year might potentially win a prize, but will definitely win respect.

To run, you’ll need a head torch and an SI card. If you don’t own these don’t worry too much, just post on the EUOC Facebook page or fire us an email and we’ll do our best to find one for you to use. Shoes with grip are also a must for the non urban events.
