2024

2024’s Edition of Big weekend was a success, bringing more than 600 competitors, many from overseas. Our focus this year was on providing a top-notch training opportunity for those preparing for Edinburgh WOC 2024. We also made sure that this didn’t reduce the quality of the non-elite competitions, with us receiving great feedback!

2023

As we draw closer to WOC 2024 we are more committed than ever to putting on quality events on newly surveyed maps for Big Weekend 2023.

Over 700 participants joined us on the 27th-29th January 2023 for a true Edinburgh orienteering experience, including the Friday evening “Fight with the Night”, featuring some new areas for orienteering along the banks of the picturesque Water of Leith, the historic Dean Village and Stewart Melville’s school grounds. This was followed by varied and intricate housing areas of The Steils and Oxgangs for our City Race, and a physically challenging classic race on the newly remapped Arthur’s Seat.

Programme:

  • Friday: Fight with the Night (Stewart Melville college and Dean’s village)
  • Saturday: City Race (Edinburgh South) and Ceilidh. SOUL trophy presentation for the 2022 league at 3:30pm at assembly.
  • Sunday: Seat classic race (Holyrood Park) and Trail-O (Pollock Halls)

2022

After a one year gap due to COVID-19, we are back offering another top quality weekend of orienteering and fun around the City of Edinburgh, including races 1 and 2 of the UK Orienteering League, and race 1 of the UK Urban league. This is one you won’t want to miss!
